Project Complete!

We finally did it! Presentations went very well on wednesday, and the entire team took a day to enjoy some rest & relaxation. Over the coming days more pictures and video will be added to the site detailing our creation process throughout the last 12 weeks. A big thanks goes out to all the industry guests who attended our presentations.

Stay tuned for more.

Work Continues

The lack of updates is for a good reason, we’re all busy working on our final project. With just over 3 weeks to presentation night, there’s still lots to do and it really is crunch time. For now, enjoy a picture of the generator area of our level.

And here’s an updated picture of Ajax.

Black & White the new Black

Just updated the website with a color scheme that matches our logo (and new banner) better. Hope everyone likes high visibility & lots of contrast.

Gun update

Just a quick post to show off our new gun design. This is looking to be the final version so all that’s required is some animation and skinning.

Milestone 2 Past, Alpha ahead.

Mock Texture Design

One of the many enemy unit textures our artist Mike Thistle has produced.

A brief update now that milestone 2 is over. Work is ramping up for our push towards alpha as the team works on finalizing our gun design and fixes bugs with enemy spawning. Thanks to the help of industry friends, we’ve been working with different iterations of our gun, and as I type this our lead artist, level designer and 3d modeler are engaged in a debate on what makes a “cool” gun and how to give it character. One might think we work for a weapons designer if you were to listen in to their discussion.

Weapon Design Iterations

Some design iterations for our gun provided by Brenan Massicotte.

Website back, status update ahoy!

Well, after a bit of downtime our website is back up, just in time for the completion of milestone one. Everyone on the team is hard at work making models, textures, whiteboxes, documents and what have you, so there is little time for anything else. Morale is high on the project and chunks of the game have been falling into place. We have ajax (our gun) in the game (minus model) and the shooting mechanic is nearly complete. On the level side, our whitebox is done and will be improved upon continuously in the coming days. I’ll try to get some art scanned in soon, but for now a few pictures from the classroom.

Vertical Slice now available for download

With term four over and the team flash presentations finished, we have been enjoying a week’s rest as we prepare for term five. We’re also happy to release our finished flash game - Vertical Slice - for download from our website. Putting the game together took a lot of effort, and many late nights were spent working on the game. However, we are more than thrilled with the finished product and are looking forward to hearing what others think of our game.

Website Up

Took a while but we’re here. Expect further updates in the coming days.
